    A tour of Bath and Stonehenge on The English Bus

    We only had a single day for exploring outside London. The English Bus offers small group day tours that made it easy to visit several places in a single day, but without the crowds of a big bus. We visited Bath, the Cotswolds, and Stonehenge on our break from the city. The Roman Baths and Stonehenge were highlights of the day.

    After a safari vacation full of early days and injury, what sounds better than Belgian chocolates and French cheese? A few months after a tour of Uganda, I headed back across the pond for a European vacation. A striking contrast to my safari experience, a friend and I visited a few major European cities – London, Paris, and Brussels.     When I was planning a European adventure in 2019, the variety of free museums in London was a huge relief.  We were trying to be very conscious of budget constraints on that particular trip, and London itself is not generally a budget-friendly city to visit. But the costs of daily entertainment can be greatly minimized if people are willing to avoid the tourist traps. Just stick to the bastions of world history, art, and culture.   How’s that for biased language?  Obviously I’m saying that as someone who avoided most of the tourist traps.  So there, London Eye!  Take that!   It occurs to me, though, that my own country’s capital city…
